Challenge Rules

Tiny Living Challenge

For one family, I’ll be doing a Tiny Living Challenge. I originally got the idea from Maddy-the-Poodle on the sims forum. However, and no offense to her at all, I didn’t really love those rules, so I’ve thought up a few of my own. Since I love my mods far too much to get rid of them, I’m not worrying about any mods that can make the challenge easier (here’s looking at you pee-in-the-shower-mod).

  1. Build on a 20×15 lot. The house cannot exceed 5×5 – including any kind of stairs!
  2. No careers or part-time jobs.
  3. No babies until you have 5000 simoleons saved up OR your sims have aged to adult (because the clock is ticking).
  4. Expansions on the house may be made AFTER having a baby. The house may be expanded two levels, but still may not exceed 5×5. You may build up or down. Using the roof does not count as an expansion.
  5. Nobody can sleep outside. (Obviously, this rule does not apply if you take your family camping.) This means no sleeping on the roof either.
  6. You must have an inside kitchen – one fridge, one sink, one stove, and at least one counter. You can have a dining area outside.
  7. No limit to decorating. Buy the nicest stuff you want or the cheapest. Fill every available surface with knick-knacks if you so desire. Landscaping is also fine.
  8. After you have build your initial house, reduce your household funds to 100 simoleons.
  9. Use the remainder of the outside space however you like. Have a pool, a jacuzzi, a playground for the kids. Go crazy.
  10. Finally, to win, you must play five generations on the lot. Heirs must remain on the lot. Spares must stay until the heir has reproduced. Once a sim has been moved out, they cannot be moved back in.

Runaway Teen Challenge

In one part of this rotation, I’ll be doing a Runaway Teen Challenge. I’m even going to follow the rules (gasp, shockface).

The rules as taken from Raindayz179 on the Sims forums:

1. You cannot build any kind of shelter for yourself until you have earned the simoleans to do so.
2. You cannot have any electronics or appliances or cell phone access (put it on silent) until you have a home. (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bath and 1 bedroom)
3. You can’t have a part time job. You can’t have a full time job until you are a young adult and have a home. (at least 1 kitchen, 1 bath and 1 bedroom)
4. You cannot cook/shower/ect on other peoples lots or interact with adults until you are a young adult. You’re a runaway they’ll report you as such. If your social meter gets low, you can interact with children or other teens.
5. You can shower and use the bathroom at any public place like the gym.
6. You can fish, garden and dig all you want and sell them.
7. You can’t go to school. You have to cancel go to school each day. This will not effect traits.
8. Each time you travel you subtract $10 simoleans from your funds using the money cheat.

The Room Challenge

Now with Connor Erickson, I’m tackling the Room Challenge! Below are the rules I’ll be following.

SIM RULES
1. Create any Sim you choose from scratch. They may look like whatever you wish.
2. Your Sim may start off with any traits or aspirations you wish EXCEPT “Loner”.
3. A hard-mode would require your sim to take the “Outgoing” trait.

GETTING STARTED
1. Choose any lot you wish, as long as you bulldoze every object from the lot before moving in.
2. A small 20 x 15 lot is recommended to give you maximum starting funds.
3. Build an 8 x 8 square room. Foundations are acceptable. You may build a porch and front door at the start.
4. Move your sim into the room, then delete the door. They may not leave under any circumstances.
5. You may only use ONE SIM in the household.

BUILDING RULES
1. Walls may be any height.
2. You may NOT build a staircase to the second floor. 1 Floor Only.
3. Access to a mailbox is allowed, but only if it is in a location within the acceptable confines of your 8 x 8 room.
4. The above is possible by having a corner of the room outside, but fenced off. The mailman won’t be able to use the postbox, but you can!
EXAMPLES: 12
5. You may place any objects, beds, skill objects, or furniture within the confines on your room.
6. You may place walls and doors within your room.
7. You don’t necessarily have to build a boring cube if you don’t want to. Just keep the final floor plan around 64 tiles, and it will be fine.
8. You can build an outdoor area of your room, or make the entire room a fenced off outdoor area, as long as it fits within the space, and prohibits communication with other sims.

GAMEPLAY RULES
1. When gameplay begins your final goal is to complete the Mansion Baron aspiration.
2. 30 windows, 20 columns and $350,000 worth of stuff? Yes, you ARE allowed to build outside of your room.
3. You can build anything, anywhere, at any time, as long as your sim never leaves their 8 x 8 area.
4. You may NOT switch aspirations once one is selected, until it become impossible to complete, or is completed.
5. The exception to the above, is Mansion Baron. You can switch to it at any time to track your primary progress.
6. You may spend points on any rewards you wish, excluding the “Independent” reward, and “Moodlet Solver”
7. Your sim is not allowed to have a job, making money gains difficult.
8. You may turn aging on or off as desired.

SCORING
You START with a score of 100 points.
– 1 for every day that passes, excluding day 1.
– 10 for every time the social need reaches critical.
– 10 every time utilities are shut off from unpaid bills.
+10 for every skill that reaches level 10.
+5 for ANY Aspiration Stage you complete.***

***You cannot complete any aspirations requiring you to leave home or make friends. So you will not be able to complete many aspirations in full. That is why it is +5 for every stage, making it +20 for every aspiration fully completed
